    Can you help me find a connector between an Ironman 4x4 solar panel 120W to a Jackery solar generator power station (Jackery Exlorer 290). I tried ordering on Amazon twice and gotten the wrong thing each time. Thank you

    • @ReeWrayOutdoors
      @ReeWrayOutdoors 6 годин тому

      I'd be happy to help you. A couple of challenges though - Jackery doesn't specify the connector type on the E290...but from the pictures, I THINK it is a DC7909. I looked up the IM4x4 120W listing on Amazon and it also does not show or spec any connector types - though it does mention an Anderson connector (I'm just not sure if that's the native connector or an adapter they supply. In any case, assuming that the Anderson connector (little red and black side-by-side squares) is one option...this cable should work (again, assuming the E290's connector is actually a DC7909...and you could probably confirm that with Jackery techsupport through email): amzn.to/3L4eFr0

      Thank you for your help. In your video I was able to look at Anderson plugs. I will be able to cut off the required 8mm connector to my Jackery 290 and replace the small square connector to the Anderson connector to my solar panel cords.

      @@ReeWrayOutdoors I linked to a UA-cam video from another battery guy. Figured it shouldn't be a problem. But after that I pulled the link and just described his DIY project. That got deleted twice despite me double-guessing what was tripping up the algorithm and trying different wordings. Finally gave up and just kept it short and vague. I find more than half of my YT comments are arbitrarily deleted these days. Makes you wonder how many people try commenting but fail. (You don't even realize your comment is gone unless you reload the page. Based on my track record, there's only a fifty percent chance that this response will even post.) Anyway, I liked your video. I hope you see this. Cheers!

    It’s an interesting unit. It fits between a EF Max 2 and Pro but is still different. It kinda checks the boxes for all who don’t want to buy proprietary expansion batteries but still have an expandable full service solar generator. That’s technically ME. What concerns me the most is the 1 year warranty. That compares to 5-7 years of top brands. As well as the 2000 cycle life, which compares to 3500-4000 cycles. But then the price is very competitive if you compare it to a EF Max 2 We always have to weigh these pros and cons for our personal needs.

    I love the Licitti plan and idea, BUT - I got their first generation 2kwh box, 2000 watt model. You could NOT put a 200ah battery in it unless you built one. It arrived with the back panel screws solidly bent up in it, and they broke off removing them and no one answered my emails. I know that they are trying, but without a vertical SLIP FIT expansion case you are so limited to what you can do to it. If they would respond to me I could show them the fix and how great building one can be but its into the nether world the email goes!

    Why do you need 24 volts when these small power stations take 12 volt panels ok? Ok maybe you will say later in the video, but I don't have patience seems wrong.

    • @ReeWrayOutdoors
      @ReeWrayOutdoors День тому

      You can certainly direct connect a 12V battery and it'll charge to some extent, but it'll charge more slowly, and then of course once the supply battery voltage drops below 12V (before it's completely depleted, it'll likely stop charging since it's no longer at the minimum input voltage.

  • @jerrytalley802

    This was a really nice review. I want to build a portable power station and this looks perfect for that. QUESTION; so if you put 2 x 100 amp 12 volt batteries in series you get 24 volts. If I want twice the amp hours, will I need to upgrade in pairs of 2 x 12 volt batteries each time? I wanted to use a 12 volt inverter, but can’t find one anything nearly this nice for the price, it’s perfect because the solar and charger are built in. It looks quality, not like the junk on the net?

    • @ReeWrayOutdoors
      @ReeWrayOutdoors День тому

      It's definitely in the 'budget' category but I think quite suitable for building a capable power station rig. You COULD use a 100Ah 24v battery and then simply connect another in parallel to double your capacity...or just buy a 200Ah 24V battery. But if you do start with 2 12V 100Ah batteries, additional 12V batteries would have to be connected in pairs to maintain that 24V system voltage

    Looks like a very good product, for that price, but (when they're available) the HQST 100ah battery is a significantly better value. HQST is manufactured by the same parent company as Renogy. When they aren't sold out, they go for $190 if you get a single battery, or as low as $185 if you buy an 8-pack of them (200ah @ 48v). At the 8-pack price of $1,480, you're getting twice as many watt-hours for just a little bit more than you would pay for a single, 48v, 100ah, server-rack battery.

      That was actually my fault. :P When I made the comment at the end about making sure you open the box in front of the delivery guy to check for damage before you accept delivery - that's actually because mine did have damage - DHL or whoever it was, apparently dropped it...hard...and the damage was not visible due to the outer layer of foam on the box. Some of the top components were damaged and Licitti sent me a replacement top piece - and I failed to get the disconnect switch perfectly aligned before I had gotten it all swapped out and buttoned-up before I noticed.

PayPal had to refund me.

    Can those lifepo4 batteries be discharged to empty without shortening their lifespan considerably? I know with flooded lead acid deep cycle batteries you dont want to let it discharge below 50% or 12.1 volts. So i half the ah rating on my lead acid batteries for my calculations. Im thinking of getting 20 100 ah lead acid(50 ah) batteries, 5 sets of 4 in series to make 48 volts for the charge controller and high wattage power inverter i want to get. If my calculations are correct that should be about 12kwh of usable energy storage till 50%. I just cant justify spending $400 each battery when i can buy my walmart out of cheap marine deep cycle batteries at 1/4 the cost, i would think they would last at least 5 years if i take good care of them and cycle them lightly.

    Not a bad "but" considering how the all-in-one name brand units have come down in price (or can be found at factory refurbished prices) $1000 bucks is a bit steep, especially considering it's not plug & play + there's no 30A RV connection :'(

    "We're not going to test UPS mode because this doesn't have switch-over relays." Well, if you can feed AC/DC in and get AC out at the same time, you have what effectively amounts to a double-conversion UPS. The only switch/relay in those is a bypass for service when the UPS has to be taken offline.

    Do you get the voc when it's nighttime? 23 vs 25 is cutting it close in an area that experiences cold

      Was definitely not ideal/direct sun conditions when I took the reading so I knew it'd measure below 20. But you raise a good point about when it's really cold and really sunny...it probably would be cutting it pretty close in those conditions.

    I would think you could use multiple solar charge controllers to make it charge way better off of solar. Of course, you could just use a 100 amp one with plenty of solar panels too. The only downside to me is the solar input limits. I would rather them remove that for a small discount and just use my own. But that is a lot of power for the price. I bought one of their dc power boxes and it took about 2 or 3 weeks to arrive. It actually came in and works great. Looks identical to the timeusb branded one for a third of the timeusb price. Not sure if timeusb still sells it or not.

    I wish these were made by a more honest company. The features and build quality are awesome but I had so many compliants about Licitti from my viewers. They paid for the product and nothing ever showed up so I eventually removed my Licitti battery box video from UA-cam. Maybe they improved in the last 6 months? You'll have to see how your viewers report their experience. These are super cool battery boxes and they keep getting more features. Thanks for the great breakdown.

      I've reviewed 4 Licitti products now over the past year or so and I've definitely not ever had anyone tell me they paid and didn't get their product. Really the only complaint I've heard was one guy who felt the SOC indicator was not accurate. And I suspect he didn't realize that you need to long press the right arrow button after it's been fully charged from time to time to recalibrate it.

      @@ReeWrayOutdoors my video was posted exactly a year ago so maybe they have changed up their system? Glad to hear you haven't seen any complaints 👍 that's great news

      @Jasonoid I mean, that's not a trivial accusation. If there were any evidence that they were being dishonest and cheating people, they'd have to know that we would publicly call them out on it and warn people to steer clear. My contact at Licitti seems like a stand up guy. Definitely not trying to pull something over on people. And for my part, as I'm sure you're aware, since theres not even an affiliate program, there's no incentive to recommend these products other than the simple fact that I find them to be an interesting budget alternative.

    This Licitti design checks a lot of boxes for me. Great great unit with huge power capacity at an economical price point. Sadly the deal breaker for me is the solar charging capacity. Even with the bypass mod you did, it cannot be fully charged on a good solar day. Here in Texas with all the storms I have I would not want take a chance with this unit. I'm happy with my Ecoflow stuff and now am waiting for my EG4 battery and inverter to add to my emergency back up. Great video and great information. Thank you for sharing your hard work and information with us.

    Wow, there are just so many choices these days. I just put together a marine (intended for trolling motors) battery box with a spiral grid 12v 90 A/H SLA and an 8 amp MPPT controller for my 12 volt portable requirements. ( I use a set of 100watt folding EcoWorthy 12v panels) This is of course in addition to my roof mounted solar panels feeding two 100 A/H LiFePO4 batteries in my home system, and my two Jackery power packs (500w and 1500w.) If I had known about this unit sooner... LOL Thanks for the review!! 👍
